Опубликованы новые снимки крабовидной туманности

Астрономы опубликовали снимки Крабовидной туманности. Об этом сообщается на сайте обсерватории "Чандра". Фотография туманности высокого разрешения доступна здесь.

Крабовидная туманность располагается в созвездии Тельца на расстоянии примерно 6500 световых лет от Земли. Считается, что этот объект образовался в результате взрыва сверхновой в 1054 году (то есть в это время свет от взрыва достиг нашей планеты).

Снимок выполнен в псевдоцветах и является результатом совместной обработки нескольких изображений в различных диапазонах электромагнитного излучения. Так оптическая составляющая была получена "Хабблом", а инфракрасная - "Спитцером".

Телескоп "Чандра" начал работу в 1999 году. Оптика аппарата позволяет ему получать изображения высокого качества в рентгеновском диапазоне. Ранее другой снимок Крабовидной туманности, сделанный аппаратом "Чандра", был признан лучшим за 10-летнюю историю аппарата.
